Highlights in visuals from Halloween and Thanksgiving 2006.
Alice went as Segolene Royal, the Socialists' Presidential hopeful, Peter as France's public enemy number 1, also known as Materazzi, the Italian soccer player who received the infamous head-butt from Zidane, which earned Zidane a red card (pictured), forced him off the field, and arguably, was the cause of France losing to Italy in this year' World Cup; Jethro Mullen, who went as a wrestler called Death-Throw Mullen, and Natasha, who threw on heels and a great black number, did up the eyes and called herself a witch.
Maria and her boyfriend Tom were cute as can be as a pirate and Harry Potter. Tom's British accent helped him tremendously, as did Maria's frilly white mid-riff shirt which she found in a pile of cast-offs at an American woman's Goodbye-to-the-IHT party. I guess my closets will yield such embarrassing garments one day, too. Let's just pause and have a moment of reflection while we look at the photo of this white shirt, which was NOT bought in a costume shop, but was an actual piece in the wardrobe of an IHT employee.
In a tribute to Kate Fatica's genius costume of 2003, I went as a girl gone wild. Bad move. Only Americans know what my Girls Gone Wild hat means, and there weren't any American guys at the party! My attempt to Frenchify the costume by writing the word "censored" across my breasts in French didn't help matters. Everyone was wondering why this American girl had a trucker's hat and sweatshirt on. They didn't even get the subtelty of my college sweatshirt!
This is Tom Crampton as a Thai Soldier or something. He looks so menacing! I love it.
And here are pictures from the MASSIVE potluck Thanksgiving I hosted. Out of 18 people, there was only one other full-blooded American, and two halfsies! Not bad.
